Anthony Caro & Jesse Lujan Car Wash - a huge success!

By: KINGSBURG NEWZ

A South Valley community came together Saturday to help the family of two teens, Anthony Caro and Jesse Lujan in a Memorial Car Wash.

The Car wash which took place at Selma's Carl's JR, was to honor two young lives lost to tragedy. 17 year olds Anthony Caro and Jesse Lujan died Monday after a crash near Kingsburg. Both were prominent student athletes at Selma High School.

The Car wash was organized by fellow students, Brianna Felix-Reyes , Manuel Barajas and Evelyn Herrera, who are remembering the two teens as well liked student athletes.

“We were able to get the whole community out and do something so great that it brought tears to our eyes. In total we were able to raise $4,026, which allowed us to donate $2,013 to each family,” said Brianna Felix-Reyes. “I wanted to do the car wash because he (Anthony) was such a great person to everyone and from what I heard, Jesse was the exact same. Both boys deserved this.”

"I was shocked,” Frankie Villagrana said about the outpouring support from the community. “I didn’t think we would get as many cars as we did. I’m so happy and I just want say thank you for whoever went out there! I’m sure it meant alot to Anthony and Jesse.”

It's been really hard time for the parents, for all of our family. You never know when something like this is going to happen and nobody expected him to leave us. So we just want to say thank you to everybody," said Nancy Gallegos, Caro's cousin.

But Wednesday, we also heard more about Caro's life away from campus, as a big brother. "I'm really going to miss singing our favorite songs together. He was such a good brother," said Amber Caro, Anthony's sister.

Caro leaves behind two younger siblings, 13 year old Amber and 16 year old Alyssa. They said Anthony filled the home with laughter and never hesitated to show his family how much he loved them.

"I'm going to miss that so much. And the thing I'm going to miss the most is that every night he would tell me, 'I love you, Alyssa'. He would yell it across the room. Every night," said Alyssa.

“I’ve known Anthony about 4 years,” said Frankie Villagrana. “Anthony was very funny. He always put a smile on people’s faces no matter what. I enjoyed allot of things; I always enjoyed hanging out with him and wrestling.”

Frankie who took Caro’s death hard continued,

“I enjoyed when he told me, 'Your like a little bro to me and I’m always here for you no matter what”, said Frankie.

"That made me smile. I enjoyed that he always had a smile on his face and knew how to have fun!”.

“We love and miss you both and they will forever be in our hearts,” said Manuel Barajas.

If you would like to donate money, a bank account has been set up for both families, you may donate to Educational Credit Union, Account # 11760800 or if you'd like to mail it, please send it to P.O. Box 5242 Fresno, Ca 92755.
